Sewing in this day & age?

In this day & time of just go buy what you need, we sometimes forget that  we can also make some of what we need or want.  I was taught to sew, I mean like using a sewing machine.  Not just sewing back on a button.

I personally make most of my dresses.  I don’t really like most of the one’s you can go buy at a store.  My grandmother taught my mom to sew, who in turn taught me to sew.  My grandma is so good at using very little bit of material, that when my mom took a sewing class in school (she only took it to take up a credit hour of her senior year) she was suppost to bring in certain about amount of material for the sewing project, say like 4 yards.  Well my Grandma & Grandpa had 5 kids so money was tight.

My Grandma got some material she had left over & showed my mom how to fit the pattern on the material.  So my mom went to school with less than the 4 yards required & the teacher’s like.  You will not be able to use that you need to have your mom buy more.  My mom told the teacher, yes it will fit & I will show you how.  She put the pattern on the material.  Right then the teacher realized that this women really didn’t need to be in the class.  So shortly after that my mom became the teacher’s assistant in the class.

So that being said you can see that I come from a line of women that can sew & really know what they’re doing.  It’s also nice to be able to wear something that you actually made.  I’ve also made shirts for my husband, curtains, blankets for the bed& I’m sure there are a few more things that I can’t think of right now.

If sewing is something that you like to do or would like to learn how to, but you don’t have the time cause you have to work a 9-5 job.  Well maybe you should consider coming & working with the online company that I work with.  It allows me to set my own hours, still make money even when I’m doing something else & not have to report to a boss!  If this sounds like something you would want to do (& who really wants’ to have a boss??) then click on my link & I will show you how to earn enough to have free time for whatever you like to do in life.  Be it sewing, boating, hunting, fishing, shopping, gardening, spending time with family & the list could go on forever.

Come join the freedom from a boss!!

  1. I think it is awesome that you have learned how to make things for yourself. Maybe I should learn. :) Even better is knowing you have the time to learn new things while still making money! Great job Amy

  2. My grandmother & mom sewed. I took home ec and in 4H did sewing but I just bought hubby (yes I said my husband) a $20 sewing machine off a swap shop and that man has taught himself how to use it but he did buy it just to sew the boys boy scout patches on instead of taking to a seamstress so that $20 machine has paid for itself over & over! Way to go Amy and I love making money from home! Best decision I ever made

  3. It is interesting isn't it. My mom never was crafty in anyway. It skipped a generation in my family. :)
